Patricia Williams of Heartwork Art Therapy is delighted to team up with CC Gneist of The Nurturing (www.thenurturing.co.uk) to offer the MSC Training!

“Cultivating a state of loving, connected presence can change our relationship with ourselves and the world around us.”

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is a skill that can be learned by anyone.  It provides emotional strength and resilience, allows us to admit our shortcomings, motivate ourselves with kindness, forgive ourselves, relate wholeheartedly to others and be more authentically ourselves. It is solidly supported by research and is being offered around the globe.

The next 8-week Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program will be offered at the beautiful Roundhouse Farm only 15 minutes from downtown Victoria.  This training meets the requirements for those wishing to apply for teacher training with the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion (https://centerformsc.org/).

Training includes: meditation; short talks; experiential exercises; group discussion; home practices; and a half-day retreat midway through the program.

After the MSC Training, you will be able to:

  • Practice self-compassion in daily life

  • Understand the empirically-supported benefits of self-compassion

  • Motivate yourself with kindness rather than criticism

  • Handle difficult emotions with greater ease

  • Transform challenging relationships

  • Manage caregiver fatigue

  • Practice the art of savoring and self-appreciation

Please visit my Past Events page to learn more about the many research-based benefits of MSC .

NOTE: If you would like to have a presentation or workshop tailored to the needs of your clients, staff or organization please feel free to contact me to discuss your needs. Research provides strong support that mindfulness and self-compassion training are effective self-care interventions that provide a powerful buffer against life stress, workplace burnout, and compassion fatigue.

Exciting News!

CC & Patricia will also be teaching the 8-Week Mindful Self-Compassion training at Royal Roads University in January, 2020.  MSC is now recognized as an elective in the Integrated Mindfulness Certificate that aims to teach mindful meditation and emphasize the range of applications it has in both personal and professional aspects of life.

ONEBird Workshop: The Self-Compassion Journey Doll

Saturday, November 2, 2019 ~ 10:00 - 4:30

Cost: $65 (includes materials)

ONEBird is a model that integrates mindfulness, compassion and creative self-expression.

In this highly experiential workshop you will be introduced to the practice of mindful self-compassion.  You will create a symbolic figure from a wide range of textiles that represents your personal journey - reflecting both inner and outer experience.  The creative process offers opportunities to practice mindfulness and self-compassion, while sharing the experience and completed doll supports a sense of community & common humanity.

Creating a handmade object is a powerful way to access intuitive wisdom.  Carl Jung said, "the hands will solve a mystery that the intellect has struggled with in vain."

All materials are provided, but please feel free to bring small objects (jewels, shells, mementos), special fabric or any other personally significant item you think might work to embellish your journey doll.

A participant described the journey dolls as conveying "huge stories...small enough to hold in the palm of your hand."

To register please fill out the contact form below, call Patricia at 250-413-7185 or email patricia@hearworkarttherapy.com
